Bringing Home The Gold
AER’s Resource site recognized for communications excellence
“Even while battling ‘The Beast,’ chief Allen communicated with clarity and compassion, reassuring his community and the entire country,”
Alberta’s NHL teams may not hoist the Stanley Cup this year, but the province isn’t being shutout elsewhere.
The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) recently won the Canadian Public Relations Society’s (CPRS) Gold Award of Excellence for Best External Publication for our news and information site, Resource.
Resource was launched nearly a year ago with the aim of making the AER more transparent by sharing stories about energy resource development in Alberta and how it’s regulated.
SAIT, Syncrude, and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta were also recognized by CPRS.
Another noteworthy winner from the province was former Fort McMurray Fire Chief Darby Allen. He received the CPRS’s President’s Award, bestowed upon those who demonstrate outstanding leadership through communications – in his case for the 2016 Fort McMurray’s wildfires.
“Even while battling ‘The Beast,’ chief Allen communicated with clarity and compassion, reassuring his community and the entire country,” says Kim Blanchette, AER vice president of Public Affairs and CPRS national president.
