Recognizing Women in Energy

AER vice president awarded for her work in energy

According to Statistics Canada, women “remain less likely to choose a career in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.” Their report helps explain the importance of groups like Young Women in Energy (YWE).

YWE award winner Jil McDonald

This week, YWE, a Calgary-based networking group, recognized 12 women for their achievements in the male-dominated energy sector. One of those recognized is Jil McDonald, the AER’s vice president of Science and Evaluation. With a greater-than 50 per cent female workforce, the AER is doing well in promoting career options for women in energy.
